The Waltz of Fear and dance partner Drink

The Waltz of Fear and dance partner Drink

My moonlit cross in morning light fades
Cowering from the window of life
Incognito tattered and frayed I wear my fears
I frittered and wasted what I held dear
No black hearted reprieve
No bright holy specter
Do you like me ?
I fly my banner with no concern
You wanna try me
Please , stop and stare
 I don’t really care
If you look close you’ll see the stain
I cry to a cross that is not mine
Can I borrow some tears to cry again
My hungry spirit offers naught for the altar
It hunts all the time
edges sharp and keen
Fear took my soul with no resistance
Go ahead drink from the chalice
Blessed revelry
I throw my swagger
If there’s something sweet
She bakes me a loaf and a taste of honey
still the hive is not mine so I steal all the time
run out the back door
So know one will see
run out the back door
Haphazardly
My phantoms breathe in the dark accolade
Every night they consume me
The better part of me is but a stumbling thought
I’ve long since abandoned
You can open my door but don’t walk inside
You won’t like what you see
I guarantee
My measure of pain is an ounce at a time
My depth of feeling lies just under the skin
The grace that I know is the warm rush of sin
